Tips For Ensuring That Your Portable Toilet Does Not Smell

After we moved into our home, I realized that there were a few problems with the plumbing. It seemed like no matter what we did, the plumbing was having problems, and I knew it had to be because of our septic system. After carefully evaluating the system, we realized that there were some maintenance issues that we were still struggling with. We started making little changes, and before I knew it, things were moving along a lot better. I wanted to create a blog all about septic services so that other people would know how to resolve challenges early. Check it out!

If you have a multi-day event scheduled on your property like a family reunion or a wedding reception, then you may want to think about renting a few portable toilets. However, these toilets may not be quite so fresh on day number two or three as they were on day one. If you think that this may be an issue and odors are a concern of yours, keep reading to learn about some tips to keep smells at bay.

Find The Best Location

Location is extremely important when it comes to renting a portable toilet. For example, it should be located close to an access point on your property so it can be dropped off and removed. Also, it should be placed in an area that is level to reduce tipping concern and an elevation that does not flood is ideal as well.

Also, you want to make sure that your toilet is receiving some air flow. So, look for an area that is more open and that is likely to receive crosswinds that move through the vents on the top of the toilet. And, one of the more important things you want to consider when it comes to toilet placement is that it should be secured in a shady spot of your property. The heat of the sun will cause odors to develop and worsen over the course of your event.

If for some reason you cannot find a convenient shady spot, then you can add a small event tent over the toilet to provide it with some shade. The ties to the tent can sometimes be added directly to the ones that are positioned to the toilet to ensure that it remains upright.

Ask About Biocide And Deodorant Treatments

When a portable toilet is used more long-term, then the rental company will work with you to provide some odor management. Typically, a biocide agent is added to the holding tank to kill the bacteria inside it. This helps to reduce the activity of the microbes that cause gaseous odors.

In addition to the biocide, you should make sure that you are renting the correct number of toilets so that they are not overused. You can add some deodorants to these toilets as well, and oftentimes they can be poured or dropped right into the holding tank when you feel that there is a need.

You can pick out different scents when it comes to deodorizers, so speak with the portable restroom rental company to see what kinds of products they offer.
